I’ve been chasing my dream of being a journalist since grade-school.

Born and raised in Regina, I went straight from my local high school to the University of Regina, where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree. During my time in j-school, I completed two internships: one at Global TV Calgary and the other at the World-Spectator in Moosomin, SK.

My experience in the classroom and the newsroom contributed to my fluency in the languages of Quark X-Press, ENPS News Software, InDesign, Photoshop, Avid media editing and Pro Tools audio editing, as well as my passion for storytelling and news reporting.

In April of 2012, I accepted a job with the Regina Leader-Post as a feature writer, where I currently work. Dealing with mostly long-form stories, I research, interview for, and write feature stories as well as coordinate photos, headlines, and layout and design of the projects.

  1. Doug Torrance former Youth Pastor, Rocanville Pentecostal Church says:

Thank you for your article on Matt Wilkie! My Wife was Pastor at the Pentecostal Church in Rocanville at the time of Matthew’s accident. He was a part of our youth ministry there, and Matt, regardless of our age differences, was a true friend. I was unaware of the dedication of the field in Matt’s name…how fitting for this fine young man that is still missed so much!
